Cape Cod Collections

The Cape Cod Collections include fiction and non-fiction books, manuscripts, scrapbooks, and documents pertaining to the history and happenings of Cape Cod.

Local Authors

The library maintains a Local Authors section and we welcome additions.

The Local Authors collection promotes a culture of reading, writing, and creativity and allows local authors and illustrators to share their work.

Local Authors are people who live in Mashpee or who have ties to the area that are evident in their work. The staff determines whether an author’s work is appropriate for the Local Authors section.

Materials added are donated, not purchased. Frequently, these works are self-published and may be presented in formats that we do not normally collect (for example, spiral binding). They can be checked out locally or requested by patrons from other libraries. We can accept one copy for this collection; if additional copies are donated, we cannot guarantee they will be added.

The library staff are committed to providing library patrons with up-to-date materials in good condition. In some instances, shelf space is limited and staff must make adjustments to meet community interests. We cannot guarantee that a local authors’ works will be held indefinitely in the collection.

Native American Collections

The Library has a range of historical, literary, and other resources relating to the Wampanoag Tribe, and Native Americans.  This includes books, DVDs, and Reference materials. Certain items are designated as Reference materials and must be viewed at the library.
