Join us on Monday, August 17 at 2:00 PM for a look at New England gardens with Joanne Pearson.
Among the 10 gardens we’ll visit in Gorgeous Gardens of New England are three that are located on Mount Desert Island in Maine. Each is unique, but all three are associated with the notable landscape architect Beatrix Farrand. Heading south, we’ll tour the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and then on to Prescott Park along the Piscataqua River in Portsmouth, NH. In Newbury, NH we’ll visit the John Hay Estate and drive 15 minute from there to the see the small but beautiful garden at the Tracy Memorial Library in New London.
In southern New England, we’ll see Buttrick Gardens in Concord, Massachusetts, part of the Minuteman National Historic Park and then to the peaceful Italianate garden at the Codman Estate in Lincoln, Massachusetts. Adding to our roster of gardens now open to the public that had their start as privately owned property is our next stop—Enders Island in Mystic, Connecticut. We end the tour with the private garden and grounds at Bunny Williams’ home in Falls Village, Connecticut which Ms. Williams opens to the public several times each year.

Biography
Joanne Pearson has been a professional photographer for over 25 years. Prior to her career in photography, she was a registered landscape architect in Massachusetts where she practiced for 12 years. Her photographs of gardens, landscapes and people have been featured in magazines, books and calendars. In addition to photographing gardens and landscape for her lectures, Joanne photographs architecture, interiors, lifestyle and food for the hospitality industry and for architects and builders throughout the northeast. Seeking to inspire and educate her audiences, Joanne regularly gives lectures on garden travel and design, photography and general travel, all illustrated with her professional photographs.
