Art Shows & Exhibits

Artist of the Month

The Mashpee Public Library encourages exhibitions and displays of paintings, photographs, sculpture, and other art works for civic, cultural, educational, and recreational purposes and has provided free space on both floors of the library for this purpose.

The Library has four exhibit areas available to local artists on a monthly basis: the first floor, second floor, the Events Room, and the display case inside the Steeple Street entrance.

Artists of the Month – November 2018

During the month of November, the Library will be hosting two different art exhibits, one on each floor.
On our second floor we are featuring the work of Don Fleet, a Fine Art Landscape photographer from Sandwich.  Don is all about having fun with his camera creating unusual artistic, images of Cape Cod.  Through the use of long exposures, panoramic stitching, and thoughtful composition he brings an unusual perspective to various scenes. A guiding mantra to his work is the importance of making a photograph instead of just taking one.

From November 6th through November 20th, our Event Room and display case will contain works from Cape Cod Collaborative Arts Network (CapeCodCAN!). This group provides opportunities for inclusion and active participation in the arts for people with unique talents and all abilities on Cape Cod.  CapeCodCAN’s “Art is for Everyone” program features the coordinated participation of up to 150 students representing up to 14 different agencies across Cape Cod. Led by local artists, students have created works of art in various mediums. Inspired by the common theme of Rock ‘n Roll, the show is entitled “Art Rocks!”. Join us at the artists’ reception on November 15th at 5pm and celebrate the artistic talents of all!
