National Hispanic Heritage month is observed every year from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15 to honor the stories, culture and contributions of Americans of Spanish, Mexican, Caribbean and Central and South American ancestry. If you are looking for a unique way to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, head to the Mystic Aquarium on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 11 AM to 3 PM for Fiesta del Oceano.
This celebration includes live music from local band Grupo Tentacion. Learn to dance the salsa, merengue, bachata and cumbia from the band. Dora the Explorer will be there as well, so be sure to bring your camera.
If you can’t make it for the Fiesta del Oceano, be sure to plan a visit on another date. With penguins, alligators, frogs, sea lions, seals , beluga whales, rays, and so many other animals, the Mystic Aquarium has something for everyone.
Before you go, be sure to stop by the library and check out our Mystic Aquarium museum pass. The pass admits two adults at $6 off and two children (ages 3-17) at $4 off admission. Click here to make a reservation.
